Terms of Competition – Waterville Ladies Golf Club 2025

All competitions will be played in accordance with Rules of Golf as issued by the R&A and the USGA

Method of Entry: Before commencing your round,

1. Pay the appropriate fee

2. Sign Competition Book and sign into the appropriate competition on the computer (if available) using your Home Club Membership Number.

3. Handicap Index must be shown on your scorecard.

Model Local Rule L-2 Rule 3.3b (4) is modified in this way: The player is responsible for showing her Handicap Index on the scorecard.

4. After the round, enter your score in the computer and place your fully completed and signed scorecard in the box provided.

5. All scorecards must be returned even if the round was not completed.

3.3b Penalty breach

The player is responsible for recording the following - Handicap Index, Player Signature, Marker Signature, and the Gross Score for each hole.

If a player omits any of the above requirements, she is considered not to have a score for the competition but may have a score for handicap.

To assist in the efficient processing of the competition, you are asked to include the

following competition details;

• Date

• Stableford points or Par score and

• Your Name

• The player is responsible for the return of the scorecard. If a score is not submitted, a ‘Penalty Score’ may be applied to your handicap record.

Entry to all singles competitions is by a draw at a time published in advance on the

Notice Board, Ladies What’s App Chat and/or on the Club Website. All rounds must start at the appointed time and on the 1st hole, unless otherwise advised by the Starter or Committee. A member who misses the draw may make out her own card and draw with those still on the tee.

Local Rule at committees discretion: Maximum Group Size – Players are not permitted to play in groups larger that 4 individuals.

Eligibility – Lady and Juvenile members of Waterville Ladies Golf Club who have paid their annual subscription can play in all competitions. Juvenile members can play in and win 1st Prize in competitions, except the following: Lady Captain’s Prize,Lady President’s Prize, Men’s Captain’s Prize to Ladies and Men’s President’s Prize to Ladies and all Hamper prizes.

Major Prizes include the following competitions if played. Lady Captain’s Prize, Lady President’s Prize, Men’s Captain’s prize to the ladies, Men’s President’s Prize to the Ladies.

These competitions will apply a limit of 36 to Playing Handicaps only;

E.g. Player has a HI 37.4/40 but will be capped at 36 Max

To be eligible to win 1st Prize in a major, members must have played and completed, three qualifying club competitions (either 18 or 9 hole) in the current playing year.

Prizes in all competitions will be awarded as follows:

Sponsored Competitions require a minimum entry of 8 players while Major Competitions require a minimum entry of 12 players - otherwise they automatically revert to the status of a Club Competition.

• 1 -10 Players – 1st & 2nd prize

• 11 – 19 Players – 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize

• 20 & over Players – 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th prize

• Best Gross (equivalent to value of 2nd prize in Majors)

• F9, B9, Longest drive, Nearest Pin (Majors only)

Local Rules are found on the score card, and additional Local Rules are posted on notice boards in the clubhouse and on the club website.

• Players must complete a minimum of 10 holes of an 18 hole competition for a valid score to be acceptable for handicap purposes. For a 9 hole competition, to be accepted for handicap purposes, all 9 holes must be played.

A player needs a valid reason to stop playing such as failing light, weather status, injury or illness or a hole being declared out of play for maintenance or because of damage.

Golfer of the Year points will be awarded for all 18 Hole singles qualifying competitions excluding Invitational Weekend competitions and all Hamper competitions. There must be a minimum of 8 players in the 18 hole competition to merit the awarding of GOY points.

Golfer of the Year – points awarded are 5,4,3,2,1, for 1st to 5th

If a player is disqualified for any reason, she will receive no GOY points for that competition.Decision on Ties - All ties shall be decided as follows:

Note: The back nine holes of Waterville Golf Links will be used to determine the result regardless of starting on 1st or 10th hole.

18 Holes: Decide on last 9,6,3,1 holes. If still a tie, decide on last 3,6,7,8 of first 9 holes. If still a tie, decide by lot.

13 Holes: Decide on last 6,3,2,1. If still a tie, decide by lot

9 Holes: Decide on last 4,3,2,1. If still a tie, decide by lot

Golfer of the Year Tie

Decided on aggregate of last 3 GOY cards submitted. If still a tie, decide on aggregate of the last 2 GOY cards submitted. If still a tie, decide on last 9,6,3,1 holes of cards submitted. If still a tie, decide by lot.

Transportation Policy - Motorised buggies may be used in all Ladies Club competitions. In Golf Ireland Interclub Competitions and Championships, players must abide by Golf Ireland regulations.

Suspension of Play – The Lady Captain or her Deputy and any 2 members of the Ladies Committee may suspend play.
